Refrigeration

Refrigeration problems that we encounter in Nevada

The refrigerator is leaking

Is there water on the kitchen floor? What happens to the refrigerator sink? Leaking refrigerators are generally easy to repair as they can be due to door seals, defrost drains, drain pans, etc.

Door seal

If the soft rubber mat is not properly sealed, water can leak from the bottom. First, use warm soapy water to clean the area of the refrigerator where the gasket contacts the gasket. If that doesn’t work, replace the door seal completely.

Thawing the drain

Make sure the defrost drain hose from the freezer is not blocked.

Dripping pan

The drain pan at the bottom of the refrigerator may be full of water and it may start to overflow. In this case, we have a problem with the dripping pan.

The refrigerator is too noisy

Is your refrigerator noisy? Well, typically the refrigerator makes a noise. The noise of ice entering the container and the coolant shoe passing through the pipe is normal. However, the buzzing, growling, and vibrating sounds are abnormal.

Level the refrigerator

Your refrigerator may have a leveling foot installed several years ago. As your home ages and the kitchen floor goes down, the refrigerator sometimes needs to be leveled again.

It is recommended to let the door close automatically when it is half open (45 degrees). Therefore, open the door halfway and adjust the legs and continue adjusting until the door swings and closes.

Place the refrigerator on a soundproof mat

You can buy a special high-density foam pad online and place it under the refrigerator to reduce vibrations transmitted from the legs to the floor. This fix is especially useful if someone living below you complains about refrigerator noise.

Adjust the ice machine

If you hear a buzz from the refrigerator every 10-15 minutes and each buzz lasts only about 5 seconds, the ice machine may be trying to make ice.

But you may not be able to because the water is running out. Stop the hum by turning off the ice machine (using a switch) or raising the ice sensor arm.

Make sure the water valve, which is normally found under the sink, is open. Also, check that the wires on the back of the refrigerator are connected to the refrigerator and that there are no leaks.

Replace the evaporator fan seal

You can use the evaporator fan in the freezer. Unplug the device and remove all items and shelves from the refrigerator. Use a screwdriver to open the access door on the back of the refrigerator and remove it.

The fan serves to distribute the air from the coil to maintain an even temperature. Moreover, this fan may vibrate due to wear or damage to the rubber seal.
